You probably know Cash App, even if you’ve never heard of it before. Formerly called “Square Cash,” it’s been renamed and rebranded.
Owned by Square (which is helmed by Twitter founder Jack Dorsey), the app allows consumers to send and receive money, link to an existing bank account, or spend money directly from Cash App with a dedicated debit card.

What is Cash App?
Cash App is a peer-to-peer payment app that allows individuals to send and receive money to friends and family. They can also use the optional linked debit card to shop or hit an ATM.
Consumer Reports’s study of peer-to-peer payment apps gave it a 64 on a scale of one to 100 (with 100 being a perfect score). “We recommend turning on the security features so that there’s a layer of protection,” she says. Also smart: setting alerts for transactions.
Also, even though you’re still technically on social media, think like a banking customer when you evaluate, select and use peer-to-peer payment services, says Tetreault.
“People are confident with the [social media-based] system because they use it with people they know and trust,” she says. Adopt the same strategy if you’re sending money.
Says Tetreault, “Use these services – any peer-to-peer services – only with people you know and trust.”

- Search your bank or choose it from the list.
- Enter your banking details for your online account to instantly link your account with your PayPal account. You can also add your bank account manually by selecting Link your bank another way. PayPal will send two small deposits of $1 to your bank account to test whether it is working.
Once you have successfully linked the same bank you added to Cash App to PayPal, you can then transfer money to the bank account, a process that will take up to three days to complete. You can add funds to a Cash App account using debit cards, bank accounts, or check deposits.
Cash App, the massively popular mobile peer-to-peer payment app developed by Jack Dorsey's Square has witnessed a rapid growth of users since launching in 2015 and currently boasts over 40 million users.

With the addition of a new service, Cash App users are now able to buy and sell cryptocurrencies on the platform. What's more, is Square plans on doing this legally. The company has been seeking out New York banking charters that would allow them to operate as an official "bank" within the state which would give them access to expanded financial services.
